About the AuthorJody Aho has maintained an active interest in the boats since childhood. He sailed aboard the Cason J. Callaway as a deck cadet while attending the Great Lakes Maritime Academy. While no longer sailing the Great Lakes, he maintains his interest in the boats, and has continued his shipboard experience through his involvement with the retired U.S. Steel ore boat William A. Irvin in Duluth. Jody has been involved with the Irvin since its opening for public tours in 1986. Jody has also been a member of the Lake Superior Marine Museum Association since 1983, and he is currently serving on its Board of Directors. Jody is also the author of the book, "The Steamer William A. Irvin: Queen of the Silver Stackers". His picture collection numbers in the thousands. A graduate of the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Jody lives in the Park Point neighborhood of Duluth, where vessels pass through the harbor almost in his back yard. In addition to the boats and traveling to various boatwatching and picture-taking locations around the Lakes, Jody's other interests include meteorology and keeping weather records for Park Point, and music from the '50s and early '60s.
