SALTIES
2000-2001
This new publication owes
its origin to the "LAKERS & SALTIES" series and was
"spun-off" this year as a separate publication to benefit those
boatwatchers whose interest in salties may be greater than their interest
in lakers (or vice versa!). This change has allowed for even more
information to be contained without any commensurate increase in price.
Purchasers of this book will be advised when the new "LAKERS
2000-2001" book becomes available. Included in this 60-page book are:

a comprehensive
cross-referenced index listing these ships with their previous and
subsequent names; and

a forty-four page
section giving details of these ships, i.e. builders, hull
numbers,loyd's Register numbers, dimensions, engines, launch dates
(where known), owners and managers (past and present), flags flown,
ports of registry, official numbers, other pertinent historical data
and particulars of the 547 visits to the Great Lakes made by these 280
ships in 2000 (including cargoes carried); and

listings of
abbreviations used for vessel types, flags and principal ports of
call; and
-
details of the
foreign-flagged cruise ships that are scheduled to be active on the
Great Lakes in 2001.
This is the only
publication available that covers all of the foreign-flagged ships
visiting the Great Lakes during 2000 in such detail.
