Day Five - Conneaut, Ohio - January 25, 2003 Previous Page | HomeNext Page

Sun rise we are stopped off Conneaut

We make a few attempts to break through.

The winds has the ice packed in the entrance, weather forecasts do not call for relief.
A tough decision must be made...

Break through for 1 load of salt risking sever damage to Mackinaw's machinery that could leave it out of commission for the new season starting in a few months.

...or head to another port and unload.

Jackman is able to arrange for their cargo to go to another port.

That port is Detroit where we started a few days ago.

Course set for Detroit.

All part of icebreaking fun.
