Saginaw River Vessel Passages
June 2 to July 30, 1995
by Dave Story

Vessel notes: American Steamship Co.'s big 730-foot AMERICAN MARINER unloaded a very unusual cargo June 24, dumping 400,000 bushels of oats into the Peavey elevator, Carrollton. The last shipment of grain to move on the Saginaw River was carried nearly two years ago by the Lithuanian KAPITONAS STULPHINAS* which took a cargo overseas July 5, 1993. (See MODOC WHISTLE Vol 4, No.1 -ed.)

Making her first appearance here since her sale and conversion, the SEA BARGE ONE (better known to us as the old ADAM E. CORNELIUS) bought in a cargo of potash july 19 to "Sand & Stone," Essexville. The vessel it "powered" by the tug ATLANTIC HICKORY (ex-IRVING MIAMI).
