The combined industrial might (and air pollution) of the Hanna Furnace Plant and Bethlehem Steel in Lackawanna. The Union Ship Canal can be seen to the left center of the photo with seven lake boats along the docks at Hanna, Independent Cement, and the Pennsylvania RR. The Lackawanna Ship Canal can be seen to the right with five lakers unloading raw material and also taking on finished steel cargoes at Bethlehem Steel. There are 11 blast furnaces, two Open Hearth Plants, two batteries of Coke Ovens and various other steel mill buildings in the photo.
