8/16 - HMCS Ville De Quebec at the Soo- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Carmen Paris

Home ported in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the HMCS Ville De Quebec passed through the Soo Locks while visiting cities in Canada and the U.S. on the Great Lakes this summer. She will be in Thunder Bay, Ontario offering tours August 16-19th.

The HMCS Ville De Quebec was launched May 16, 1992 and was built by MIL-Davie Shipbuilding. This company also built several boats familiar on the Great Lakes including the Algocape, Algosoo, Cedarglen, Frontenac, CSL Assiniboine and Algoma Montrealais.

In addition to her mission to enforce Canadian laws and protect Canadian waters, the HMCS Ville De Quebec also deployed to the Gulf of Mexico to support relief efforts following Hurricane Katrina in 2008.

The HMCS Ville De Quebec is 440 feet long with a draft of 23 feet and has a top operating speed of just under 35 miles per hour. She carries up to 225 sailors and has a range of 9,500 nautical miles.
