Great Lakes Group

The US brig Niagara has arrived at Great Lakes Shipyard in Cleveland for routine drydocking and repairs. The vessel was hauled out using the Marine Travelift on October 10, 2016, and work on the vessel will be completed in approximately three weeks.

10/14 - Memorial Service For Captain John (Jack) Cork
- St. Marys River - Graham Grattan

Friday afternoon family, friends and colleagues of Capt. Jack Cork boarded Soo Locks Boat Tours Le Voyageur for a short river cruise in honor of Jack's memory.

In Little Rapids Cut we meet Algoway and she initiates a salute that was appreciated by all on board.

We gather on the foredeck and Capt. Robert Schallip reads a short passage.

Sugar Islander II on the MCM drydock in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. 
    Sugar Islander II is a double-ended ferry with a propeller at each end and operates the same going in either direction.
 Drummond Islander III backs away from the Sugar Island dock. 
    Drummond Islander III is a twin-screw ferry. She has two propellers at the stern and is designed to mainly operate in a forward direction.

Drummond Islander III sprints up river a short distance and then turns down stream.
Drummond Islander III approaches the mainland dock with the current behind her.
    She then backs into her dock below Mission Point.

10/9 - Welland Canal

This was her first upbound trip through the canal since leaving lay-up in Sarnia recently.

She met Tecumseh downbound between Locks 1 and 2.

10/8 - Saginaw River
