I have served in the Canadian Coast Guard for over 35 years and proudly promote and represent the CCG.

There are many, many people in Canada who do not even know of the existence of the CCG,
and many others who do not know what the CCG does.

This is my small attempt to promote an organization that I believe deserves much better publicity.

I found two sisterships that are now awaiting disposal.  This one is the former CCGS Tupper.

Both these ships were built in the late 50's.  They are diesel electric buoy tenders and are both ice-strengthened.

Being ice-strengthened means they are not classed as icebreakers.  Despite this the Tupper spent many winters working in extreme ice conditions in the Gulf of St Lawrence and the Newfoundland coast.

The Simon Fraser went through the North West Passage a few years ago as part of the RCMP celebration of the St Roch voyages.
