The only way to determine the safety of a rope, its
life expectancy and its load carrying ability is by regularly
inspecting every foot of its length. Base your estimate on the
section showing the most deterioration.
Should there be any doubt as to whether or not a rope
is fit for use, it should be replaced at once. Never risk danger to
life or damage to property by taking a chance.
When a rope is condemned, it should be destroyed at
once or cut up into short lengths so that it cannot be used for
hoisting purposes.
Rope used for Block and Tackle are often overlooked
and must be inspected vigourously.
