R.G. Pearce, a new tug for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was on her to her Sault Ste. Marie home port Easter Sunday. The 76-foot-long tug arrived on the lakes a few months ago from her builder, Conrad Shipyard, Morgan City, LA, and has been moored at the Corps’ Ecorse dock near Detroit. Her name honors a 35-year Soo Locks veteran with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A sister tug, H.J. Lawson, has yet to arrive on the lakes.’
