ORIGINAL REPORT: It’s that happy time of year when we get to announce the details of the annual Boatnerd Picnic and Freighter Chasing Cruise in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, held in conjunction with Engineers Day at the Soo Locks.
On Thursday, June 25, we will meet at the Sherman Park pavilion for a picnic. Setup starts at 11am, feasting starts at noon. This free event will be held rain or shine.
On Friday, June 26, we will embark on the Famous Soo Locks Boat Tours motor vessel Le Voyageur. Boarding begins at 5:45 pm, and we cast off at 6 pm. The cruise is three hours long. We plan to travel through the U.S. locks, but that may change in order to chase freighters. Pizza and salad are included in paid passage. Reservations are a must.
